StadtGalerie Datteln
StadtGalerie Datteln was developed according to plans drawn up by the architecture firm Chapman Taylor that brought together and thoroughly refurbished a Hertie department store which had stood empty for years and the adjacent Ellerman shopping centre. After years of stagnation, it is now the new beating heart of retail in the town with a population of 35,000. Located right by the central market square and boasting access to the pedestrian zone, the centre has allowed lost terrain to be reclaimed by new tenants such as C&A, Deichmann, Gerry Weber and Depot together with the existing food retailer tenant REWE. The location’s attractiveness is further boosted by the 500 m² municipal library on the first floor and a 1,000 m² job centre.
