StadtGalerie Velbert celebrates opening

Today, on 16 May 2019, Düsseldorf-based property development company CONCEPTA concluded the two-year StadtGalerie development project in Velbert with an opening event that attracted a strong visitor turnout. The StadtGalerie shopping arcade combines the strengths of a retail park, including strong local amenities and large-scale specialist retailers, with an excellent ground-level pedestrian precinct location and the largest city-centre car park with more than 500 parking spaces.

{Velbert is a mid-sized city known for being a lock and security technology cluster and for its automotive sector.More than 4,000 people work for these hidden champions, as well as in the administrative and health sectors, within a 500 m radius of StadtGalerie.

The opening celebration was covered live by Radio Neandertal, but the real stars of the event were the new stores.Regional fashion retailer Modehaus Mensing has a ‘grand hotel’ themed store with 2,500 sqm of retail space on two levels, a check-in at the entrance and a strong focus on personal style counselling. Arnd Klose is looking forward to welcoming customers and sports fans from Velbert to his over 1,000 sqm Intersport pilot store. Both malls offer a diversified mix of all the current big fashion brands. Fashion shoppers can look forward to a never-before-seen range of retailers in Velbert, from ONLY to Cecil/Street One, Vero Moda, KULT, s.Oliver and Jack & Jones.Tally Weijl is also planning to open a store here. The CONCEPTA leasing team is delighted to have secured Rituals, one of the most attractive shops in the retail scene, as a tenant.

A 1,600 sqm Netto supermarket makes up for the lack of a food retailer in the city centre and serves the neighbouring residential areas. A generously sized food court in the central forum with the L´Italiano eatery offers guests a unique and inviting atmosphere, plus indoor and outdoor seating areas. Food retail and food service account for around 30% of the shopping centre’s total space.

StadtGalerie Velbert is committed to excellent service and customer orientation. The pharmacy in the shopping centre sees itself as a local health counselling partner and the Volksbank has a branch and customer advice centre located there.

The 40 shops, as well as the food court operators and service providers, are looking forward to a successful future in Velbert. The area around the StadtGalerie is currently being gentrified by Velbert local authority, and now boasts a new lock and mountings museum in Villa Herminghaus, the new ‘Platz am Offers’ plaza and the extensive refurbishment of the Forum Niederberg cultural centre.
